Schools gain access to SWIS™ through a SWIS™ Facilitator. A SWIS™ Facilitator is a person
who has been certified by the University of Oregon to assist schools in building information systems, and
providing the on-site training for SWIS™ use. Step 2 provides information on how schools may
access a SWIS™ Facilitator.
1. Read the full SWIS™ Overview.
The SWIS Overview contains essential information that you
should know before moving forward with SWIS™.
2. Contact a SWIS™ Facilitator and review school readiness.
The SWIS™ Facilitator meets with school personnel, reviews the discipline categories
and procedures, and determines when SWIS™ is compatible with the hardware and
discipline systems in the school.
(SWIS-Readiness Checklist)
The SWIS™ Facilitator signs a SWIS™ license agreement with the school
administrator, and the agreement is forwarded to the University of Oregon where a
site account is established.
4. SWIS™ Facilitator provides on-site Training for Three Staff
The SWIS™ Facilitator schedules on-site training at least 10 days after the license
agreement is submitted to the University of Oregon. On-site SWIS™ training for three school faculty/staff typically
involves three uninterrupted hours. After the training the school personnel be able
to enter and retrieve discipline information using the SWIS™ application.
5. Assistance in Using Information for Decision-Making
The SWIS™ Facilitator attends school team meetings and (a) provides training on the
organization and use of SWIS™ information for decision-making, and (b) participates
with the team as they apply the process to their local information.
